Committees

We frequently need dedicated volunteers who help us carry out the important our mission off the build site.  Call the office regarding opportunities to volunteer on any of these committees:

Family Selection Committee

This committee is responsible for recruiting applicants, screening applications, interviewing applicants, and recommending applicants to the board of directors for approval as prospective homeowners, as well as management of selection policy and procedures according to applicable law and Habitat criteria.

Family Support Committee 

This committee provides Habitat homeowners and homebuyers with a mutual support system, educational opportunities, and a forum for discussions pertaining to homeownership and maintenance, all for the purpose of helping families to break the poverty cycle and become independent. Specifically, volunteer Family Advocates provide support and mentorship to the homeowner or homebuyer before, during, and after construction of their home.

Resource Development Committee

This committee is responsible for coordinating fundraising activities in coordination with the full board, including fund-raising campaigns, grant proposal coordination, special fund-raising events, and cultivation of major donors. 

Public Relations Committee

The public relations committee works to increase and enhance awareness of the work and mission of the corporation throughout the community through various forms of media, including print, radio, digital, and social media.

Church Relations Committee

The church relations committee works to strengthen the support of the affiliate’s work by gaining volunteers, prayer, and financial resources from community churches. It serves as the liaison between the affiliate and the faith community, facilitating communication and developing partnerships.

Site Selection Committee 

This committee is responsible for targeting the areas or areas of the community in which housing is developed, investigating and researching the availability of property, and recommending property to the board of directors for acquisition by purchase or donation. 

Building (Construction) committee

This committee assists the Contstruction Manager in planning and implementing construciton operations, including developing and selecting house plans, planning the schedule and budget, building relationships with vendors and subcontractors, recruiting skilled volunteers, managing policy and procedure, and assisting with build site supervision.

Volunteer Coordination Committee

This committee assists with recruiting, scheduling, and recognition of volunteers.

Hope and Homes Committee

This committee assists with coordination and execution of NAFC Habitat's signature fundraising breakfast, Hope and Homes in the winter of each year.
