About Our Program

Time

Currently, the NAFC Habitat Homeownership Program takes about 18 months to complete from the time of application to the time of closing. This isn't a quick, emergency-housing program, but rather a capacity-building program for successful independence in homeownership.

Education

All homebuyers must participate in monthly workshops that educate them in financial literacy, home maintenance, and basic skills to lower everyday costs and increase success and happiness as homeowners. These monthly workshops also give homebuyers a chance to turn in sweat equity hours and ask questions or express concerns in the program.

Building

Habitat homes are affordable because of hard-working volunteers who minimize our expenses. Homebuyers invest sweat equity hours to build their own homes and the homes of other Habitat families! Currently, it takes approximately 4-6 months to build a Habitat home, with building days on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
