The Williams Family

Keisha, Ny'Kyeona, Caleb, Tai'sjhan, Aaleiah, Ky'onder, Kaden, Kenneth, and Kendria

Keisha:

I am a 33-year-old mother of 8, and I am originally from Chicago. I’m an assembler at Beech Mold and Tool, and I value alone time when I can sleep and just relax. My children like to play basketball and football, run track, sing and play instruments. I learned about Habitat from my landlord, after our house caught fire and we had to relocate. To me, a Habitat home means stability, and for my children, it’s a place to always call home. My family and I are very excited and thankful for everyone’s help, and we will be a part of helping other families for a lifetime.

The Graham Family

Shannon & Araya Sunshine

Shannon:

I am 37 years old, and I’m from New Albany. I have one daughter, Araya Sunshine, and I work as lead host for The Old Spaghetti Factory, and do housekeeping for Green Valley Care Center. In my spare time, I like to cook and entertain, and spend lots of time with my family. Araya likes to read, skate, and watch TV. My sister-in-law completed the Habitat homeownership in Louisville, and that’s where I learned that Habitat means owning my home. My daughter’s wish is to have a yard; she and I are so grateful, and we can’t wait to get started! To help and have something that we truly worked for—what a blessing.

Tess Kessinger

Tess:

I am 43 years old and was born in Louisville. I suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury following an automobile accident in February 2006, and have been a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic since that time. I work as a Research Assistant for the University of Louisville, and in my spare time, I like to read, attend concerts, and watch TV. I heard about Habitat from my sister, who works for the federal government, and my mom who heard about it from volunteers at HFH Metro Louisville. A Habitat house means independence, self-esteem, and taking the next step in my life. My family is happy and excited for me, though a bit nervous! I want Habitat volunteers and sponsors to know that they are giving me back normalcy in my life.

The Shirley Family

Audrianna & Mikah

Audrianna:

I am 25 years old from New Albany, and I have a two-year-old son, Mikah. I work as a Medical Assistant for Clark Memorial Hospital, and part-time at Hallmark in Clarksville. In my spare time, I like to read, listen to music, and spend time with family—especially with my son, who loves to play. I heard about Habitat from a Habitat homeowner; owning a Habitat home means stability, security, and hope, and my family is proud, happy and ready to be involved. I want donors, sponsors and volunteers to know that I am forever grateful and beyond appreciative for this opportunity.

The LaGrange Family

Ariel & Ava

Ariel:

My name is Ariel, I’m 28 years old, and I have one daughter, Ava. Being able to buy and build a Habitat house means I’ll finally be on my own! My goal has been to save money and work towards owning my own home. My daughter and I share a one-bedroom and sleep in the same bed. I want Ava to have her own space and a safe place to live. I want volunteers who will be working on my house and sponsors to know that I am so grateful for Habitat and all of the other organizations that have helped me succeed at being a single mom! I feel very grateful for the help I have received. My goal for the next few years is to be in a better financial place and to have more money put in Ava's college fund. My goal in life is to work for a non-profit as my career, educate and encourage parents to be self-sufficient, and give back to all of the programs that have helped us!
